A First-Time Homeowner’s Window Awning Story

A First-Time Homeowner’s Window Awning Story

At 52, Veronica bought her first home. There were a few immediate problems that needed to be addressed. The windows on the west side of her home were boring and no match for the hot summer sun. She was at a loss as to how to improve their style or efficiency.

Lots of first time home-buyers feel this way!

Like they somehow missed the gene that other people naturally possess. You know, the one that allows them to waive their magical fixer upper wand and improve the aesthetic and functionality of their home in one fell swoop.

Luckily, there was someone in her life who knew exactly where to start, window awnings. Her boyfriend is a re-habber and long-time customer of KCT&A and put her in touch with us right away.

We invited her to the showroom/warehouse to talk through ideas, colors and style.

I just loved taking a tour of the warehouse and seeing the manufacturing area. All the bolts of fabric, the guys putting together the metal frames, the great designs done in the past, and the history of the company – it was a privilege to see.  I must tell you that the most impressive sight was that of the two ladies in the back, working at manual sewing machines!  Now that’s dedication to quality!

As we discussed her personal style (or perceived lack of it), it became clear that simple was the way to go. Window awnings are easy to accessorize with planters, furniture, pillows…just like a couch. The more classic the design, the more options you have for dressing it up.

Veronica wanted basic black, but we suggested piping and a scalloped edge to add a custom touch.

How did it turn out?

When asked how she feels about the end result, she replied, “They are just lovely and it was so easy.  I like how effortlessly I can raise and lower them, depending on the day.”

Bottom Line…

Buying and maintaining a home is not for the faint of heart. So it’s important to have partners at your disposal that can collaborate with you along the way. KCT&A is proud to provide that level of care for our customers. And we think it shows up in the quality of our projects.

How about you? Do you have an energy or shade conundrum and don’t know where to start? Let’s start with a conversation and go from there.
