Casey’s General Store was founded in 1959 in Des Moines Iowa. Expanding to small communities around the country, the chain has grown to include over 1,800 stores. No doubt you’ve passed by a Casey’s on a road trip or your morning commute. Maybe you’ve stopped in for a slice of their famous pizza – a feature that’s led them to be the 5th largest pizza chain in the nation.
Casey’s has become such a household brand, you might have noticed them popping up everywhere. But you probably haven’t noticed their awnings. In recent years, they’ve moved away from blacklit plastic signage to metal red awnings which has become a signature accessory for the exterior facade of the stores.
But, when they moved into Overland Park, the city wanted to soften the exterior to create a more classy look than they felt the metal awnings could provide.
So Architect, Matt Kauffman of CP & Associates came to the experts at KC Tent & Awning for options. After discussing the city’s concerns, our designers recommended swapping out the stark metal awnings with fabric. This allows the building’s facade to retain a more modern feel than the Casey’s of old while achieving the classiness that was important to the city planners, designers and architect.
Matt said, The city really liked how it turned out. And they’ve received a lot of positive feedback.
